"Essays" by Ralph Waldo Emerson [David McKay, 1893]. Complete in two volumes. 396pp + 2 ads, 307pp + 2 ads. Dark green cloth bindings with gilt spine titling. Back hinge of Vol 1 cracked; all other hinges solid and bindings solid. Vol 1 has more exterior wear with rubbing to head/tail of spine and bumped corners. Vol 2 only has very light rubbing to base of spine. Interiors clean apart from two ownership signatures (pictured) and a handwritten membership list of the “Emerson Club April-June ‘96” at the end of Vol 2. Overall, Good + and Very Good+. Nice matched pair.
